Healthy Breakfasts Boost Boy Births
Over the last four decades, there has been a slow but consistent decline in the proportion of boys being born in industrialized countries. Scientists are now explaining this trend as a function of the low calorie diets and meal skipping common among many women in developed countries. A study following 740 UK women during their first pregnancies found that those women who were consuming a high calorie diet around the time of conception were more likely to have boys, while those who had the lowest energy intake more frequently had girls.
